He got his start by being hired by then West Coast Regional Water Supply Authority, now Tampa Bay Water (Marketing tip: if the old brand name has bad history, change it) and fought for years against the SWFWMD saying the wellfields were not causing impacts. Several hundreds of thousands of $ (or milions?) in his pocket later, the District ultimately prevailed in court and the wellfiled pumpage was greatly reduced. No longer needed by Tampa Bay Water, he was is hired by SWFWMD (didn't you hire him Sonny?) to fight Tampa Bay Water to enforce agreements to cut back on pumpage. Now he's hired to defend a private entity saying (at a rate of over $500 hr) no impacts will occur from an operation that will pump more than any single TBW wellfield. I belive he is also still representing several central Florida utilties (governments) to aid them in pumping more water out of the Orlando area. Concerns are over drawing down the Orlando lakes. Deja Vou. This guy has a great business plan and with the current regime out of Tallahasse (Vinyard)along with the loyal party disciples, Executive Directors of the WMD's, he should have an easy go of it. I bet Doug Manson has a picture of him handing on his office wall. Expect, unfortunately, SJRWMD to cave in and expect to see Ed representing Ocala and Marion County in a few years fighting the impacts of the permit. Should have gone to law school.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798568783457003128.post-6242264537885258522012-08-01T14:29:18.506-04:002012-08-01T14:29:18.506-04:00The proposed withdrawal is in the springshed of Si...The proposed withdrawal is in the springshed of Silver Springs (fact). Where will the 13.2 mgd of water come from? It will come from somewhere in the springshed (fact). Someone or something will be deprived of the water that it is currently receiving. Eddie and Mr. Stronach can spin things as much as they want to, but their spins don’t make any sense. Keep up the good fight.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798568783457003128.post-26625689895852902812012-08-01T14:28:25.065-04:002012-08-01T14:28:25.065-04:00While I wholeheartedly agree more water should not...While I wholeheartedly agree more water should not be pumped of Florida's aquifer, I wonder about two things...

1. What happens to the land if cattle are not kept there? Will it be turned to housing developments (small St. Augustine lawns use more water.)

2. Does manure and fertilizer have that much impact on groundwater? How much nitrogen does the bahia or coastal grass need to grow? Doesn't it utilize the nitrogen?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798568783457003128.post-60413109075693903792012-08-01T14:25:44.201-04:002012-08-01T14:25:44.201-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Sandspurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17526071481551000261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798568783457003128.post-31810620191604237902012-08-01T10:03:39.652-04:002012-08-01T10:03:39.652-04:00Unfortunately these ads may be working on some of ...Unfortunately these ads may be working on some of the locals. So many people around here are fond of saying they want their country back yet they are eager to sell it to the highest bidder.
